What is the Blue Bay Shepherd™ temperament like?

The American Blue Bay Shepherd™ is still a breed in development. Like any other breed, temperaments can vary. That being said, most American Blue Bay Shepherds™ tend to have a softer personality than a German Shepherd dog.

  • Temperament: They are known to be intelligent, loyal, docile, and easygoing. When properly trained and socialized from an early age, they can be good companions, gentle with children, and get along well with other animals. They are eager to please and tend to become gentler as they age.

  • Trainability: With their intelligence and desire to please, they can be trained well. However, they may exhibit some independent traits that require consistent training and positive reinforcement methods. If you are looking for a protection K9, another breed might be a better option for you.

Are American Blue Bay Shepherds™ Wolf dogs?

American Blue Bay Shepherds™ are not classified as wolf dogs. No American Blue Bay Shepherd has any wolf heritage less than six generations back.

They are a separate and distinct breed developed from various other breeds like the German Shepherd and the Alaskan Malamute, among others.

Their appearance results from selective breeding for specific physical traits. However, they are not hybrids of domestic dogs and pure wolves, which defines a wolf dog. Wolf dogs typically result from a mix of a wolf and a domestic dog, whereas American Blue Bay Shepherds are a distinct breed created through controlled breeding practices.

*It is the responsibility of the buyer to be aware of any breed restrictions within their state.

Are there any authorized American Blue Bay Shepherd™ breeders apart from our founder, Vicki Spencer of Southern Breeze Kennels?
