American Blue Bay Shepherds are at minimum six generations removed from any wolf in their lineage. They are not hybrids from pure wolf and domestic dog.
This makes them far removed from any wolf ancestor. They have been selectively bred for their unique look and temperament. The breeds that have been used in this development are carefully selected herding and northern breeds.
Prospective owners must look into their local laws regarding any breed restrictions.
What is the temperament of the American Blue Bay Shepherd?
American Blue Bay Shepherds are currently still in develop and temperaments may very. As a general rule they tend to be softer in disposition than a German Shepherd Dog. They are known to be intelligent, loyal and easygoing. With early socialization and training they can be gentle with children and get along with other animals. They are eager to please and become more gentle with age.
They are very intelligent, and may have some independent traits that require consistent training and positive reinforcement. Because of their soft and easygoing nature, they are not suitable as protection dogs.
What is the Application Process?
A $500 deposit is due with application to join the waitlist. The waitlist currently can be anywhere from 6 months to a year, depending on when a puppy becomes available. Long coated males are in the highest demand and have the longest wait time. The deposit will go towards the total cost of the puppy.

What happens when an older dog is retired from breeding? Occasionally retired dogs may become available for adoption. There are no adoptable retirees available at this time.
